Butler 2017-2018

Mrs. Butler earned two degrees from University of California, Riverside; she holds a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics and a Masters Degree In Education. She began her career as a math teacher at RUSD's Arlington High School. While at Arlington, she taught Pre-Algebra through Pre-Calculus, and served as Arlington’s Math Department Chair and on their Leadership Team.

In 2013, Theresa continued to grow professionally by being selected to serve as the Instructional Services Specialist for Secondary Mathematics. In this position, Mrs. Butler lead the district in the transition to Common Core State Standards Integrated Mathematics. She also has successfully lead a team of staff developers in developing curriculum and assessments for courses Grade 7 through Pre-Calculus. Additionally, she supported the 150 secondary mathematics teachers through large group professional development, collaborative team support and one-one-one coaching.

Through her leadership, RUSD’s secondary mathematics program developed a shared vision and a guiding practice agreement that aligns to the belief that all students can learn and do math at high levels.

She is a true asset to Poly's Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment programming and attendance initiatives.
