Dr. Tacy Duncan

Assistant Principal-Restorative Practices & Instruction
Attendance and Discipline [M-Z]

Duncan 2017-2018

Dr. Duncan began her career in the Alvord Unified School District where she taught Physical Education and Adapted P.E. for 10 years. Her caseload included students who’s needs could not be adequately addressed in a regular physical education program. While working with special need students she noticed the educational injustices that often occurred.

Motivated to provide better opportunities for students she pursued her Doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice from the University of Redlands. In addition to teaching for Alvord she also spent nine seasons as the Head Women’s Softball Coach at Cal State University, San Bernardino. Under her leadership the Coyotes made postseason appearances, notched a program-best for wins in a season and clinched the NCAA West Sub-Regional Championship. The skills needed to run a college program prepared her for the administrative role she currently held.

In 2014, she left Alvord and CSUSB to serve as the Assistant Principal for Chemawa Middle School. The last three years she helped support the instructional process with specific responsibility in restorative practice managing student referrals, planned and delivered site professional development for certificated and classified staff and continued the work of shaping the culture at Chemawa.

She is married to Shannon Duncan, he works at the University of Redlands as a Senior Programmer Analyst and they have twin daughters, Jordana and Madison who will be entering the 5th grade at Alcott Elementary.
