Dr. Tacy Duncan - AP Athletics
Dr. Tacy Duncan is an educator, coach, and athletic administrator who understands the world of athletics from a 360-degree lens as a former Division I athlete, coach, and parent.
Dr. Tacy Duncan is an educator, coach, and athletic administrator. She is the current Assistant Principal over Athletics and Facilities at Poly High School and holds the unique distinction of being the first female Assistant Principal over Athletics in the Riverside Unified School District (RUSD). Her extensive experience includes serving as an assistant coach at the University of Redlands and the Head softball coach at NCAA Division II California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB) for nine seasons.
After taking over the CSUSB softball program in 2006, she led the team to a historic run in 2008, earning a spot in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament and advancing to the NCAA West Regional. This achievement earned her CCAA Coach of the Year honors. Two years later, she guided the team to another NCAA Tournament appearance, where they won the NCAA West Regional to reach the Sweet 16, this elevated the program to a national ranking of 16th among all Division II softball teams. Following her coaching career, Dr. Duncan transitioned into educational leadership. She earned a Master's degree in Educational Counseling from the University of Redlands. She earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice also from the University of Redlands.
Dr. Duncan under the leadership of Principal Ybarra helped organize three initiatives at Arlington High School: The Gold Summit, the Arlington High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the Student Athletic Advisory Council. Dr. Duncan's contributions have been recognized by The Riverside Sports Hall of Fame for the work behind the scenes to promote sports in the region with the 2024 President's Award. She was awarded the Norm MacKenzie Award, which honors an athletic director within their first 5 years from each CIF section who demonstrates exceptional leadership and organizational skills from The California State Athletic Directors Association (CSADA).
In addition to her role as the Assistant Principal Dr. Duncan is actively involved in high school athletics at the CIF state and Southern-Section level. She is the CIF Southern Section At-Large Representative, participating in council meetings and voting on bylaws and rule updates. She is also a CIF State Representative for the CIF Advisory Athletic Administrator Council. She represented RUSD and presented at the 2025 & 2026 California State Athletic Directors Association (CSADA) conference. Her career demonstrates a strong commitment to both athletic excellence and educational advancement.
