Mrs. Laura Nelson - AP Curriculum & Instruction

Laura Nelson has been an employee of RUSD for 35 years. During this time, she has held several positions-elementary teacher and elementary literacy coach, high school teacher in the English and Special Education Departments as a reading specialist and a site literacy coach, and currently a high school assistant principal. Laura Nelson is a Riverside native who received her Bachelor's degree and teaching credentials from our very own UCR.  She holds a Master's Degree from Chapman University in Educational Leadership and Administration. She is a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. Her two adult children began their successful careers with a strong educational foundation in RUSD. She is dedicated to ensuring students feel connected, supported, and empowered while attending Poly High School. Laura Nelson's passion is to create a learning environment in which all stakeholders feel valued, safe, and successful.
